Realflow 2012 updated for Cinema4D and Lightwave3D

Realflow plugin for Cinema4D and Lightwave 3DCinema4D and Lightwave 3D got an update of Reaflow plug-in updating the version for Cinema 4D to v.2.1.2 and the Lightwave version to v.1.3.1. In the new version of the plug-in for Cinema4D and Lightwave 3D you can find several bug fixes and also new features such as  SD export mode (matrix or vertex) selection for multiple objects or added "Keep particle order" checkbox in the particle importer which allows you to track the particles between frames.

Blender 2.59 officially released

At Saturday was officially announced Blender 2.59 release. This is the third stable release of the Blender 2.5 series, representing the culmination of many years of redesign, development and stabilizing work. This release contains the 1000s of fixes and feature updates since the 2.5 beta versions were published. So the Blender Foundation can be proud of it.

Autodesk obtained license for Disney’s Xgen

Autodesk Disney XgenAutodesk, the leader in 3D technology and the maker of 3DsMax and Maya got five-year exclusive license for Disney’s Xgen Arbitrary Primitive Generator technology which was used by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The technology for Xgen was presented back in 2003 at Siggraph in a white paper by Walt Disney for creation of generated fur, feathers, and foliage. From that time the technology was used in several Disney’s animation like Tangled, Toy Story 3 and others for simulating foliage, flowers, grass and trees.

In this 45 minutes tutorial you will discover how to quickly add imperfections using displacements, an easy way to add air bubbles and how to create realistic ice material. Due to the complexity of refractions and and relections of ice, it generally renders better using unbiased rendering engines (like LuxRender or Cycles).
