Gnomon Workshop published two free ZBrush tutorials made by character artist Mark Dedecker who is specializing in high and low resolution modelling and texturing for film and game characters. In one of the tutorials called „Texture to displacement“ Mark will explain how to create seams in cloth using polygroups based on the UV shells of a model. He will also explain how to convert texture files into a displacement map and how to place it on the model as sculptural detail in ZBrush.

In this making of Casper Thomsen explains the way in which he created his „The Marauder“. Inspiration for this he found in his passion to Blizzard games and cinematics, especially in Starcraf 2. Before starting he collected many pictures from internet and from game, which used like reference pictures. On three pages he explains his workflow by doing his artwork using 3dsmax, V-Ray and Photoshop.

Release of Cinema 4D R13 was announced just before Siggraph. Today MAXON announced the immediate availability of CINEMA 4D Release 13. Mitsuba, the physics based, open source (GPL) renderer, has just released a new version. Some of the new features include python integration, spectral rendering, material modifiers, scene portability and better documentation. This renderer is compatible with almost all OS.
