Adobe launches Creative Cloud

Adobe announced Adobe® Creative Cloud™, a radical new way of providing tools and services that will change the game for creatives worldwide.  A subscription-based offering, Adobe Creative Cloud is a hub for making, sharing and delivering creative work and it is centered around a powerful release of Adobe Creative Suite® 6 software, packed with innovation across its industry-defining design, Web, video and digital imaging tools.

Rather than streaming the applications, a Cloud subscription will enable users to download and install any CS6 product on any computer. So long as you don’t run the copies simultaneously, you can install each package on two computers, mixing Windows and Mac OS X versions if necessary.

Blender 2.63 release candidates available

blenderThe Blender Foundation has released the first Release Candidate of the new Blender 2.63. Main updates are BMesh and improvements on Cycles and the Motion Tracker. Other new features in this release include Sculpt Hiding, Movie Clip option for the Sequencer, a compositing node to output multiple files at once or multilayer EXR files, new tools for linking and detaching nodes, more particle rotation options, theme support for cameras and empties, and Linux support for drag n' drop from external applications.

Maya 2013 is available

Autodesk announce immediately availability of Maya 2013. Maya 2013 delivers new toolsets for dynamic simulation, rendering, and animation; implements an Open data initiative to facilitate non-linear workflows; and provides solutions to create and maintain open pipelines.

Enhancements to the Maya Nucleus framework, including the addition of a new Maya nHair module, combined with the new open source AMD Bullet Physics engine, help you create complex and realistic simulations.

With the high-performance and high-quality Viewport 2.0, new features have been added to expand the level of support, so artists can efficiently evaluate their work in a higher fidelity interactive environment.

Terragen 2.4 is released

Planetside software releases a Terragen 2.4 with complete Animation Module. The Animation Module now includes a complete key frame editing workflow with a dope sheet and curve editor, providing greatly improved control and precision when animating. Version 2.4 also includes greatly expanded GI flicker reduction options, and many additional features, fixes, and optimizations. This major update is free for all licensed Terragen 2 users.
