The Foundry announced the availability of MARI 1.4v4, including a number of important fixes and enhancements. MARI is a 3D digital painting tool designed from the ground up to meet the needs of the most demanding VFX texture and matte painting artists. Moreover from the version 1.4 the developers implemented in to MARI Adobe® Photoshop® layered PSD import and export functionality. In this release are no new features but some were enhancement – „In the Lights palette, there is now an icon to move the currently selected light to the current camera position.“.
Even though no new features are present, this release are covering and fixing a lot of bug fixes inside MARI as well bug fixes for developers. The new version is available for download to all customers under maintenance.
Some of the fixes:
- BUG ID 18292- Linux: the web browser used for the Forums tab occasionally caused Mari to crash due to problems with Java or Flash plug-ins. Launching Mari with the --nobrowser command line option still disables any web browser-related functionality, if you don’t want to use it.
- BUG ID 19834- Windows: some of the documentation for Mari was missing from the documentation folder under Start > All Programs > The Foundry > Mari 1.4 > Documentation.
- BUG ID 25595- Windows: dragging an image directly into a shader module’s texture thumbnail failed if that image wasn’t already in the Image Manager.
- BUG ID 25806- Projection cameras did not save properly when the project was saved.
- BUG ID 25919- Mari sometimes crashed when importing PTX files that required more texture storage than was already allocated.
- BUG ID 25943- Mari crashed when attempting to Undo and Redo certain action combinations.
- BUG ID 25970- Using Pan Selected Object to change the light position did not work properly. You can now move lights with Pan Selected Object when the light is selected in the Lights palette.
- BUG ID 26000- Using the Clone Stamp tool on the Paint Buffer did not work as expected. The Clone Stamp tool has been changed so that when cloning the Paint Buffer, the tool accounts for a transformed Paint Buffer.
- BUG ID 26066- Shader baking sometimes dropped to a much lower resolution than expected.
- BUG ID 26143- The default shader was not locked to prevent modification. The default shader’s diffuse module was also not disabled, causing complications.
