A new solution for cloth simulation, the new PxCloth cloth solver in SDK 3.1 is a rewrite of the PhysX 2.x deformables, oriented on clothing simulation. It is promised to offer better performance (especially on consoles) and cloth behaviour.
The designers at id Software® used for their new post-apocalyptic game Rage Luxology’s modo®. The game is featuring incredibly realistic objects, textures and environments and most of these models including weapons were created and modelled inside modo. The designers found that modo is also ideal for level design and allowed a unified game development pipeline between asset creators and level designers. The gameplay and graphics of Rage are highly realistic and based on the company’s id Tech 5 engine.
Autodesk® started with their free 3D modelling application 123D™ a small but fun challenge for Halloween. 123D™ is a free solid modelling software program with which you can design precise and makeable objects using smart tools that let you start with simple shapes and then edit and then tweak them into more complex shapes. For people which are interested to try and do some modelling in this application, 123D™ gave some pumpkin starter models and also a short video which will help you with carving your own pumpkin.
